Student Expectations and Procedures

Essential Academic Behavior Partnership

Learning and consistent use of appropriate behaviors are essential for successful learning of academic skills and concepts. With a home-school partnership, all Monte Vista students will learn responsibility, respect, and how to be safe. Please read and review these Expectations and Procedures for Student Behavior on a regular basis.

Be Responsible

Arrive at school on time ready to learn.

  • 8:10-8:20 students need to be at the playground.
  • Be prepared with all your materials, books, and lunch.
  • Make sure you know where you are going after school.
CELL PHONES must be turned off and kept in backpacks or checked into the office during the school day.

Leave at home things that may cause disruption in class or outside.

  • toys
  • ipods or players
  • sports equipment
  • make-up
  • jewelry that is played with
  • trading cards
  • clothing that makes sounds
  • gum and candy
Items taken from students will be kept in the office for parents to pick up.
Use materials appropriately.
Be Safe

WALK on sidewalks in a calm and courteous manner.

  • Run only on the black top at recess and PE time.
Students are allowed in rooms only when teacher is present.

Play safely by following game rules.

  • No chasing games on play equipment
Bike riders must:
  • Wear a helmet
  • Walk bikes on the sidewalk around the school
  • Provide your own lock.
The school cannot assume any responsibility for bikes, skateboards, etc. at school.

Skateboards, scooters, roller blades or skates maybe used to come to school.

  • All skateboards,scooters, roller blades, etc. must be carried on campus and locked in the bike rack area.
Be Respectful

Listen attentively

Students are allowed in rooms only when teacher is present.

One person speaks at a time.

  • No side conversations with friends during instruction time.
Use a kind tone of voice.
  • Do not argue or have a disrespectful attitude.
Use words to solve problems.

Keep hands to yourself

Follow directions from all adults in the classroom and outside.

On the playground, FREEZE when the whistle blows.

  • Both feet must be on the ground
  • Hold all balls still 

No hats are to be worn inside buildings
